Many taboos are associated with sex. They mostly target and impact women and queer people. Such taboos aim to dictate what people can choose to do with her body. Some social taboos are so strong and threatening that they result in people being forced into actions they would not otherwise choose. Unsafe abortions is one example. So is child marriage, which is often the result of parents wanting to ensure their daughter remains chaste lest she be demonised by showing interest in or practicing sexual acts.
