Currently, I am witnessing my home country Yemen going through the worst of times. The conflicts we see erupting in Yemen are due to the multitude of rival political and sectarian groups operating in the country as well as neighbouring foreign powers that have an interest in how Yemen is ruled. Some of these powers do not want Yemen to be at peace and seek to plunder the country´s resources.
Yemen would be in a good state if only all of our political parties could gather around the dialogue table and leave behind partisanship and sectarianism. If each of these political parties could envision building a new and united Yemen based on tolerance and peace, I would see my homeland prosper. Yemen is home to agricultural, oil and fishing resources. If the political parties actually loved and cared for their country, we would live in peace and safety. However, all the political parties here put their personal interests first.
Despite the difficult situation however, I plan on staying here. Yemen is a country of faith and wisdom, especially the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, where I was born and raised. The city is my home. Previously, I lived and studied in India for 8 years. I prefer Yemen though. I do not plan on immigrating or living in a country other than my own.
